Programme Overview

BSc Nursing, also known as Bachelor of Science in Nursing, is an undergraduate academic degree program that focuses on providing students with a comprehensive education in nursing and related healthcare fields. The course aims to prepare students to become competent, compassionate, and professional nurses who can provide quality care to patients.

The duration of the BSc Nursing course is typically Three years, during which students learn about various aspects of nursing, including anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, nursing ethics and law, health promotion and disease prevention, medical-surgical nursing, pediatric nursing, maternal and child health nursing, mental health nursing, community health nursing, and research in nursing.

In addition to theoretical classes, BSc Nursing students also undergo clinical training in hospitals and healthcare settings, where they apply their knowledge and skills to real-life patient care situations under the supervision of experienced nursing professionals.

Upon completion of the BSc Nursing course, students can work as registered nurses in various healthcare settings, such as hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, schools, and community health centers. They can also pursue higher education in nursing, such as Masters in Nursing (MSc Nursing) or Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing (PhD in Nursing), to further advance their knowledge and career prospects.

  • Clinical Nursing: As a clinical nurse, one can work in various healthcare settings such as hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, and rehabilitation centers. Clinical nurses are responsible for providing direct patient care, monitoring patients' health status, administering medications, and managing patient records.
  • Nursing Education: BSc Nursing graduates can also work as nursing instructors or professors in nursing schools, colleges, and universities. They can teach and train future nurses, conduct research, and develop new nursing programs
  • Public Health Nursing: Public health nurses work in community settings and focus on promoting health and preventing diseases. They work with local health agencies, schools, and government organizations to provide health education and disease prevention programs.
  • Research Nursing: BSc Nursing graduates can also work as research nurses in clinical research settings. They assist in designing and conducting clinical trials, collecting data, and analyzing results.
  • Nurse Practitioner: With further education and training, BSc Nursing graduates can become nurse practitioners. Nurse practitioners are advanced practice registered nurses who can diagnose and treat illnesses, prescribe medications, and order diagnostic tests.
  • Nursing Administration: BSc Nursing graduates can also work in nursing administration roles, such as nurse managers or directors. They are responsible for overseeing the nursing staff, managing budgets, and ensuring the quality of patient care.
  • Home Health Care: BSc Nursing graduates can work as home health nurses, providing care to patients in their homes. They monitor patients' health status, administer medications, and educate patients and their families on how to manage their health conditions.
